Candlemass is working on the follow-up to their 2019 album The Door To Doom. The new record will be their third with vocalist Johan Längquist, who sang on both The Door To Doom and their iconic 1986 record Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. In an interview with Blabbermouth, Längquist said everything for the new album is pretty much recorded and that they've entered the mixing stages.

"I'm pretty much done. There will be something new. That's not a secret. I don't know how much the other guys have talked about it. Everything is pretty much recorded so far. There's a guy mixing it and we get copies to listen to and give him our opinions about it."

Längquist adds that he's positive there will also be some new fan-favorites on the album, saying "I don't think they will be disappointed. That, I can say. There are a lot of great songs here. I've never heard songs exactly the way they are, but they're so beautiful and you have the heavy stuff. You get a lot from the record. I'm pretty sure a couple of the songs will rise to the top of Candlemass song lists."

Here's hoping the new record also features some killer guest spots like The Door To Doom, which included everyone from Avatarium vocalist Jennie-Ann Smith to Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi. In the meantime, check out Candlemass' tribute to legendary vocalist Eric Wagner with their killer cover of Trouble's classic "The Tempter" off the 1984 album Psalm 9.
