Depending on your feelings about Slayer 2013, you are either really excited or really indifferent about today's announcement. The band announced select shows in LA and NY (as well as a previously announced stop at FunFunFun Fest in Austin, TX) with Gojira and 4Arm as direct support. Let me repeat…Slayer AND Gojira ON THE SAME FUCKING NIGHT!
The dates announced so far are:
Oct. 28 Hollywood, CA — Hollywood Palladium
Nov. 8-19 Austin, TX — Fun Fun Fun Fest
Nov. 27 New York, NY — Theater at Madison Square Garden
The press release announcing these shows stated this is the first time Slayer played New York City since the Big 4 concert in 2011 and the first time they're playing the Palladium since 2010.
Either way, there is a whole lot of space between those three shows. It's silly to think Slayer would play one show, fly home, chill for three weeks, only to get up and rehearse for another show. This is definitely the makings of a big national tour.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 9 at 10 a.m. local time. You can visit www.slayer.net for more info.
While obviously things won't be the same without founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman, the songs are still awesome and Gary Holt does hold up quite well in the band. If this tour comes to your town, will you be going?
