If ever there was a case for the rich having too much money, this is it. There was recently a massive auction of rare items relating to late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, by Julien’s Auctions.
One said item for auction was a paper plate. According to the sellers: “Cobain had eaten some pizza before the show and proceeded to write the set list on the plate he had been eating his pizza on.”
How resourceful. So, to recap, it's a paper plate with some writing in Sharpee on it of a Nirvana set list. As the headline reveals, some rich person dropped $22,400 on this "piece of rock history," if you will.
Here's what the plate looks like:
SOLD for 22,400! A used paper plate with a #Nirvana set list handwritten by #KurtCobain at the 9:30 nightclub in Washington, D.C., on April 23, 1990.
SOLD TODAY in our “Music Icons” #memorabilia #auction @HardRockCafeNYC and online at https://t.co/TiME89MqlX! #1990s #90s pic.twitter.com/MzumBjq15G

That wasn't even the most expensive item sold. A cardigan that Cobain wore at one of his final photo shoots went for $75,000. I can't imagine he paid more than $20 for it.
If there is an afterlife (probably not), Kurt is certainly there laughing his ass off at all these rich folks who are blowing their money on his old shit.
