LAMB OF GOD's Chris Adler Once Nominated ALLEGAEON's Guitarist To Be In MEGADETH

Megadeth would've had dudes from Allegaeon and Soilwork...

Greg Burgess of Allegaeon is one hell of a guitarist. When he's not playing maddeningly fast riffs brimming with distortion, he's ripping it up on an acoustic guitar. So it's almost not even surprising that Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler put Burgess up as a nomination for when Megadeth was looking at new guitarists.

Burgess recounts the events to Chuck & Godless over at MetalSucks.

“He’s like, ‘I put you up for something pretty special. When it happens, just know it came from me.’ And I was like, ‘Cool! We going on tour, dude?’ And he was like, ‘Well, no… I can’t tell you, it’s not my place, just don’t be shocked when it comes.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, but you really can’t tell me?’ And he sends me the ‘Radioactive’ Megadeth solo from Rust in Peace. And I’m sick, so I was like, is this news ‘radioactive’?” And then he just sends [a text message] with Megadeth… and I threw up, like, immediately.”

Man, can you imagine a Megadeth lineup with ex-Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren and Allegaeon guitarist Greg Burgess? That would've been awesome! Though ex-Angra guitarist Kiko Loureiro seems to be doing a damn fine job with Megadeth, so that's good.

On the flip side, if Burgess would've gotten into Megadeth, maybe we wouldn't have gotten the fantastic new Allegaeon album. Which would not be okay.
