Earlier this week, we reported that lyrics from Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name Of" were being shouted as protest anthems in Portland all throughout the week. Tom Morello shared the news and it led to another opportunity to school a newer fan on the band's politics.

Morello posted a screenshot of a story about the song being used as a protest anthem and captioned it "Well that's what it's for."

A fan commented "I mean if you're ok with kids associating your band with the kids who don't know discipline and want communism… I guess?"

Morello snapped back "That's pretty much what we're aiming for."

This follows a similar pattern that happened last month.

In a now deleted tweet, Scott Castaneda writes "@tmorello I use to be a fan until your political opinions come out. Music is my sanctuary and the last thing I want to hear is political bs when i’m listening to music. As far as i’m concerned you and Pink are completely done. Keep running your mouth and ruining your fan base.?"

Morello responded shortly after asking a simple question. "Scott!! What music of mine were you a fan of that DIDN’T contain “political BS”? I need to know so I can delete it from the catalog."

Who are these people who don't understand what Rage Against the Machine is about?
