ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill passed away on July 28 at his home due to currently-unspecified causes. Hill played bass for ZZ Top from 1969 to present day, and has appeared on every one of the band's records. According to guitarist and vocalist Billy Gibbons in a text message to radio personality Eddie Trunk, ZZ Top will continue on and play out the rest of their tour.

Hill was recently filled in for live by his bass technician Elwood Francis after returning home on July 23 "to address a hip issue".

"Received this just now via text from @BillyFGibbons regarding passing of Dusty Hill @ZZTop . Billy told me okay to share w/fans: As Dusty said upon his departure, 'Let the show go on!'.and…with respect, we’ll do well to get beyond this and honor his wishes."
