TESTAMENT Plotting A New Record For 2024

Riffs – they're coming.

Testament is making some pretty hefty progress into making a new record. According to guitarist Eric Peterson in an interview with Loud TV, Testament has five or six new songs ready to go and should release their new record sometime in 2024.

"There was a big gap because of COVID. But now we're getting ready — probably after this [European] tour to go start working on new material. So, yeah, I'm looking forward to that. We have about five, six songs written already, and [I'll] probably try to finish it up when I get home. And then hopefully record right after we go on tour to Japan. So '24 should look like a release for Testament."

"I'm a fan. For me, I wouldn't release anything unless I'm a fan of what I'm doing. I have to get goosebumps. When I hear it, I'm, like, 'Yeah.' And then, of course, I play it for friends. A few of them go, 'Ehh.' But most of them go, 'Fuuuck!' Except ChuckChuck goes, 'Eh.' And then four years later, [he goes], 'That's the best song ever. Write more shit like that.' I'm, like, 'Yeah, but four years ago you said that sucked.'"

Testament recently posted photos of themselves working on new material with touring drummer Chris Dovas, who replaced Dave Lombardo earlier this year. No word on if Dovas is the official replacement for Lombardo, but vocalist Chuck Billy certainly seems to have an opinion on it.

Testament is also slated to play the first-ever Metal Injection festival on September 15 and 16 alongside Machine Head, Fear Factory, the Cavalera brothers playing old Sepultura, and more. Check out all the info and get your tickets here.
