Back in September we posted a story about presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee using Survivor's hit "Eye of the Tiger" at a rally for Kentucky municipal employee Kim Davis when she was released from jail. Survivor was none to happy about the use of the song and now, just as everyone thought might happen, Huckabee's presidential campaign Huckabee for President, Inc. is being sued by co-author of the song Frank M. Sullivan III! Here's what the Associated Press had to say.
The suit says Frank M. Sullivan III is co-author of "Eye of the Tiger." It says his suburban Chicago company, Rude Music, Inc., holds the copyright.
The suit requests unspecified damages and that a judge order Huckabee's campaign to stop using the song.
A message seeking comment from Huckabee for President, Inc., wasn't returned.
Realistically, who didn't expect someone to get sued over this? No word on what Amon Amarth frontman Johan Hegg thinks about this, but I'm sure he's grinning somewhere.
