But how many will there be?

Looks like Sleep is back, or at least they are for one show. Sleep – alongside artists like Jack White and The Mars Volta – is slated to play the Desert Daze festival at Moreno Beach in Lake Perris, CA from October 10 to 13. Of course Sleep kept their announcement nice and mysteriously, only captioning the Instagram post with "TRANSMISSION" and then information about the show.

This is Sleep's first show since 2022, and could potentially herald some new music? According to Sleep guitarist Matt Pike in a recent interview with Steelworks, Sleep has been working on something, but he's not at liberty to say what it is.

"Well, we haven't played live in a while and we took a little hiatus," said Pike as transcribed by Metal Injection. "Right now we're just playing D&D online really, and there's some surprises coming up but I can't elaborate or share on how that's going to turn out.

"So you know, we're talking and and working on stuff again, but it's not come to fruition. It's nothing that I can announce. You know us, we'll drop a record in the middle of the night and no one will know it's coming. So it's… I don't really give away those secrets because that band so odd. I don't know what's gonna happen myself."

Pike added: "I'm on good ground with those dudes and we're talking about some cool shit. I'll leave it at."

It's worth remembering two things at this point – Sleep surprise released their album The Sciences on April 20, 2018 with zero warning. April 20 is also coming up in roughly one month, so who knows. Maybe we're getting a new record ("we'll drop a record in the middle of the night and no one will know it's coming," said Pike), but who knows?
