Heavy metal and its more extreme sub-categories started to bubble up in the early-to-mid 80s. Metallica was just taking off, Tom G. Warrior was paving the way for heavier acts with Celtic Frost and Hellhammer, and Venom was as blasphemous as ever. Then of course there were classic heavy metal acts like Iron Maiden dropping Powerslave, Dio kicking ass with The Last In Line, and Anthrax coming onto the scene with Fistful Of Metal.
