If you've been to a Slipknot show where the band plays "Spit It Out," you know there is a part where the band asks fans to get down real low and then when the time is right, jump up and down and go crazy. It's a highlight of any Slipknot show, but two pickpockets in UK saw it as an opportunity to steal some phones.
During a Slipknot gig in Manchester, U.K., last month, two men – Marius Patriche, 33, and Mihaita Marius Caban, 34 – stole 24 phones, and were later tracked down and arrested.
Caban was grabbed as he was leaving the show, and 14 cellphones were found hidden inside a swimsuit he was wearing under his clothes. He pled guilty to theft and will be spending four months in jail.
Patriche managed to leave the venue but was eventually traced to a nearby hotel after one of one of the stolen cellphones were tracked back to his room (Did he not turn them off first?). Once authorities came into his room, they found a suitcase with 10 stolen phones in it. He will serve eight weeks in jail.
Both pickpockets will also pay a victim surcharge of £122.
Keep your eyes open at shows for pickpockets, and if you see something, say something.
