Ozzy Osbourne recently announced his No More Tours 2 tour with Stone Sour to kick off in late April, which makes sense considering he started announcing dates for his farewell tour in other countries back in November. He's also been writing a new solo album tentatively due out this year, though he's been going back and forth on whether he wants to or not and whether albums are a viable format in 2018.
So that's it, right? One more tour, maybe one more album and then grandpa Ozzy calls it quits? Not quite. According to the man himself in an interview with Rolling Stone, Ozzy says the tour is called No More Tours because he's just not touring anymore. That's it!
"I'm not retiring," he tellsĀ Rolling StoneĀ on a call from his Los Angeles home. "It's 'No More Tours,' so I'm just not doing world tours anymore. I'm still going to be doing gigs, but I'm not going on tour for six months at a time anymore. I'd like to spend some time at home."
The way he sees it, he's simply achieving balance in his life. "I've experienced fantastic things; it's been an incredible journey," he says. "I just need to slow it down a little." And, he adds, after years of missing out on his children's milestones, he wants to be there more for the rest of his family. "I enjoy being a grandfather," the singer, who recently became a granddad again, offers. "I don't want to go through another generation of Osbournes without seeing them grow up."
Which is fair. He didn't call the tour The End like Black Sabbath did, so it's not too surprising that this isn't the ultimate end of everything Ozzy in the music world. Plus like Ozzy says, it's probably best for him to be home and spend some time with his family. Not to mention the dude is going to be 70 years old in December this year. So he's not exactly at the age where touring an obscene amount of dates throughout the year is the best idea.
