Ex-Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy attended his former band's show at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on March 4. Portnoy got a shout out from vocalist James LaBrie from the stage as well, which is especially nice considering a few years ago their relationship didn't seem like it was the best. Better yet, Portnoy posted a photo with his former bandmates saying he had a great time!
"After 36 years, I finally got to see my 1st DT show last night! ? It was a wonderful evening and it was such a pleasure to spend time with my old friends again ☮️? (SWIPE ⬅️) PS – Of course I spent time w John Myung as well…(in fact, we went to the show with his family), we just didn’t snap a pic… ?"
Still, it's not like Portnoy hasn't worked with his former bandmates over the years. He reunited with guitarist John Petrucci for his solo album in 2020, and with both Petrucci and keyboardist Jordan Ruddess for a new Liquid Tension Experiment album last year.
