The US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN is opening its doors in 2016 and Metallica will properly be blowing them right off. On August 20, with the aid of Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat, the band will be playing the stadium's first hard rock/metal show, and Lars Ulrich seems pretty happy about the whole thing.
“We had such an amazing time playing in our hometown stadium the night before the Super Bowl that when asked we couldn’t say ‘no’ to another chance to be part of a very special weekend.”
More importantly, maybe we'll finally get to hear some new songs at the show? It certainly sounds like the band plans to be wrapped up by then with a new record.
In the meantime, you might as well enjoy Metallica's performance of Diamond Head's "Am I Evil?" and their own "Motorbreath" from March 15, 1985 at the Kabuki Theatre in San Francisco, which will be on the deluxe box set of Ride The Lightning out April 15.
