MAX & IGOR CAVALERA Refused SEPULTURA The Use Of Music In Upcoming Documentary

Sepultura vs Cavalera Conspiracy, the feud continues!

Sepultura vs Cavalera Conspiracy, the feud continues!

Sepultura might have been one of the greatest metal bands to ever exist, but it almost never seems like a day in paradise when it comes to the ever lasting quarrel between former members. Otávio Juliano, the director behind the upcoming documentary, Sepultura Endurance, claims that former members, Max & Igor Cavalera, blocked Sepultura from using the band's earlier music in the film. Specifically, songs like “Roots” and “Attitude” were denied.

This feud between the Cavalera's and remaining members in Sepultura has been long standing, well documented, and doesn’t seem to get any better with time. So this news probably won't come as a shock, but it sure doesn't seem like a reunion will be in the cards any time soon.

As the director explains, the Cavalera's own half the rights to the music, and are within reason to veto the use of songs in the film, even as live performance video. However, if you watch the trailer you'll hear "Refuse/ Resist", a song the Cavalera's wrote. So perhaps they just denied the use of songs from the Roots album, since Cavalera Conspiracy was touring on the anniversary of the album? In any case, I wouldn't doubt it was one of many challenges Juliano faced to finish the documentary.

There are still no details on when we can expect to see a home release for Sepultura Endurance, but we’ll keep you posted. You can check the trailer below.

You can also hear Max & Igor talk about Roots in our interview.
