Fear Factory initially said their followup to 2015's Genexus was due out in 2017, though it never surfaced and nothing concrete ever got announced. Then in February of this year, vocalist Burton C. Bell said the new record is called Monolith, is delayed due to technical difficulties, and even showed off the artwork. Guitarist Dino Cazares started getting tweets about the record, to which he responded he wasn't really sure what was going on.
Unfortunately between then and now, no progress seems to have been made. According to Cazares in a new interview with Metal Command, he's still totally in the dark about Fear Factory's new album.
"I've got nothing. I was wondering when somebody was gonna ask me a question about that, but I have nothing… People ask me every day. I have no information about that."
It might be worth mentioning Bell also said in December 2018 the record was being held up because the band was "waiting for some legal technicalities" to clear up. Maybe there was some truth to ex-guitarist and bassist Christian Olde Wolbers posting about the band breaking up in some capacity?
