Last we heard about new Fear Factory was in May 2017, though the prospects of a follow-up to 2015's Genexus aren't looking too great. Guitarist Dino Cazares recently only wanted to talk about his coming solo record and responded laughing about a new Fear Factory record, while vocalist Burton C. Bell recently posted about hitting the studio with his other band Ascension Of The Watchers.
Now in a recent interview with Heavy New York, Cazares elaborated a little more on his forthcoming solo album. He says it's about halfway done being written, and that he wants to finish up writing the music before picking out a lineup for the band. Oh, and be rest assured it'll be metal, as Cazares says "I'm not gonna go out and try to make a hip-hop record or make a fucking country record — nothing like that."
"I don't really like to stray from what I normally do. People know me as being a heavy artist, people know me for my right hand. I'm not exactly the kind of guy who's gonna go out and try to do a rock album or a hip-hop album or nothing like that. I like to do what I do. Metal's in my heart and speed riffing is my thing, and that's what I love to do…. I'm not saying it's gonna be the 'same ol', same 'ol.' Of course I'm gonna try to take it to somewhere different, but people are gonna know what to expect from me, and I'm okay with that."
This will be Cazares' debut solo record.
