In 2017, Chris Adler had a very bad motorcycle accident that prevented him from actively touring with Lamb of God. He went into excruciating detail about it when we interviewed him last year. Fans who caught Lamb of God recently, as direct support on the Slayer tour, noticed that Adler was not back with the band yet and drummer Art Cruz was still filling in.
We all assume that Adler will be back eventually, but will he? In a new interview with WSOU (which you can hear below), Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe was asked when fans could expect Adler back in the fold, and his response is a bit troubling:
“It’s hard to say what’s gonna happen with Chris Adler. I have no comment on him.”
As MetalSucks points out, it's not the most reassuring response. It'd be one thing for Blythe to say he didn't know when Adler would be back but Adler would be back, but instead Blythe chose not to comment. Could we live in a world where Chris Adler is not the drummer of Lamb of God?
I doubt it. For one thing, during that same interview we had with Adler, he made it clear that even though he wasn't touring with the band, he was still incredibly active in the writing of their next album, which at the time the band hoped to be out by Christmas 2019.
So we could see a world where Chris Adler records with the band but possibly doesn't tour with them? While that would be disappointing, it would certainly be better than Adler being out of the band altogether.
I guess time will tell. We'll keep you posted.
