No Really, CHRIS BARNES Truly Hates The Modern Death Metal Scene

He has some choice words for us too.

Vocalist Chris Barnes (Six Feet Under, ex-Cannibal Corpse) recently made headlines for saying that modern death metal vocals made him "physically ill" and that he "despises what this genre has become." The comments came after Barnes watched A Death Metal Round Table on Knotfest featuring vocalists George "Corpsegrinder" Fischer of Cannibal Corpse, Travor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder, Chase Mason of Gatecreeper, and Alex Jones of Undeath.

Now Barnes is back and he needs us to know that he really does hate modern death metal vocals, the modern death metal scene, and he hates us too. Or in his words, and to the surprise of nobody at this point, "fuck y'all to hell."

"I stand by my original statement. 'I despise what this genre has become.'

"All the people trolling me, proves my point all the bitch ass 'media' making headlines off it proves my point. "Fuck y'all to Hell, eat a dick on your way down."

Much like last time, Barnes hasn't elaborated on why he hates the genre or the vocals. Just a whole lot of "this is all garbage" and that's it. Which is especially strange since now that he's doubling down, you'd think he'd start to offer some reasons.

Barnes originally fronted Cannibal Corpse between 1988 and 1995 before being replaced by Fisher. Prior to leaving, Barnes formed Six Feet Under in 1993 and has been fronting them ever since.
