The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame confirmed it's inductees today. Deep Purple, a band that has been snubbed for over 25 years, is finally getting into the Hall. The rules state your first single must have come out 25 years prior to nomination, which means Deep Purple have been eligible since 1993 and snubbed.
The members nominated are Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Jon Lord and Ian Paice.
Other inductees include Cheap Trick, Steve Miller, NWA, and Chicago.
As for which incarnation of Deep Purple would perform at the ceremony, lone original member and drummer Ian Paice tells Rolling Stone he has no idea:
I have no idea. I haven't even thought about it. No idea. We have to accept that there are personalities that don't see eye-to-eye in our history. How that would work, I have no idea. Whether that could be put aside, I don't know. It's definitely one to contemplate and think about.
Bands who were eligible this year that didn't make the cut include Nine Inch Nails (which is a surprise), The Cars, Chaka Khan, Chic, The J.B.'s, Janet Jackson, Los Lobos, The Smiths and The Spinners.
The induction ceremony takes place at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, NY on April 8, 2016 with a broadcast airing on HBO later that spring.
