Over the last few days, more info has started slowly coming to fruition since the shocking news last week that percussionist Chris Fehn was suing his own band, Slipknot, saying that the band was keeping money from him. Fehn had since been dismissed from the band. Taylor has publicly said he and his band are being wrongfully accused.
Fehn contends that frontman Corey Taylor and founder M. Shawn Crahan, along with their manager Rob Shore, created six separate companies. Fehn is suing for two counts of "breach of fiduciary duty," one count of "breach of implied in fact contract" and one count of "unjust enrichment." We break down the entire lawsuit filing here. The Des Moines Register was able to secure a comment from one of Fehn's attorneys, Joseph Dunne.
Dunne revealed Fehn learned of these entities during negotiations for the band's upcoming studio album, due in August. "He thought everyone was being treated equally. My client really is just hoping to figure out a way to work this out with the people he's worked side by side with for the last 20 years."
"There is a lot of information out there that our client has not been able to see," Dunne said, and was not able to say much else but did say the band had 20 days to answer the suit.
Slipknot did not comment on the story. On Monday, they posted a statement to their official website, which has since been deleted stating:
Slipknot’s focus is on making album #6, and our upcoming shows around the world, our best ever. Chris knows why he is no longer a part of Slipknot. We are disappointed that he chose to point fingers and manufacture claims, rather than doing what was necessary to continue to be a part of Slipknot. We would have preferred he not take the path that he has, but evolution in all things is a necessary part of this life.
Long Live The Knot.
Fehn's lawyer has said even though the message has been deleted, Fehn's status with the band remains unchanged.
