The Faceless has not been doing too well this year as far as keeping members goes. Earlier in 2014 the group lost guitarist Wes Hauch and now bassist Evan Brewer and drummer Alex Rüdinger have announced their departure as well! Brewer has been in the group since 2011 and played on their 2012 record Autotheism.
Brewer said via his Facebook he can't dedicate the proper amount of time to the group anymore.
"After almost four years of good times with The Faceless I've decided to leave the band. I just feel that it's time for me to make this move because I want to make new music, do more teaching, and to also have availability for any musical opportunities that may arise. The Faceless is a full time band and they need members who can commit to that schedule. I would like to thank the fans of the band for embracing me and encourage them to continue their support of The Faceless."
Brewer was rumored to have quit the group in late 2013, but this time it's for real. No word on if Brewer got a great offer to go join another group or he just decided to leave this project. Keep in mind Brewer has a very prolific solo effort going as well and may be quitting to do that full time now.
Meanwhile, drummer Alex Rüdinger has been with the band since 2013. Shortly after Brewer announced his departure, the drummer took to his Facebook to announce his exit as well (around midnight, October 20).
"After much thought I've decided that it is time for me to leave The Faceless to pursue other projects and seek out other opportunities. I will be looking for work; I love touring, writing, and recording and plan on doing all of these things for a long time to come. I would like to thank the band, as well as every person that attended a show in the last two years. I saw a lot of places and made some great friends along the way; it was a great experience.
I'd also like to apologize to any fans that were planning on coming out to see me with the band next week at Knotfest, as well as Europe next month. I'm sure I will see you all again at some point in the future!
I wish the band the best of luck, I have no doubts they will continue onward. Thanks.
Here's hoping the band can keep it together! Then again, the amount of people that have come and gone by now has been so extensive that unless vocalist and guitarist Michael Keene quits, The Faceless will live on forever."
We kind of know what Rüdinger is up to in terms of new projects, but there could be more in the pipeline!
The band has yet to make any official statement on any sort of replacements. Their next gig is this weekend at Knotfest on October 25. The only public comments made was this vague post by founding guitarist Michael Keene on Instragram.
What do you think happened with The Faceless? Any suggestions of possible replacements?
