AVENGED SEVENFOLD Guitarist Responds To MACHINE HEAD Frontman's "Joke"

Earlier on in September, Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn made a joke (we think it was a joke?) about Avenged Sevenfold's new albums essentially being a cover album, to which Avenged Sevenfold's singer M. Shadows basically didn't care at all. Now Avenged's guitarist Zacky Vengeance chimes in with some really, really positive things… because taking a joke is what they're good at.

According to an interview with Kerrang! U.K. (and transcribed by Blabbermouth):

"My only comment (on Robb) is that I really, truly hate to see any sort of divide in rock and metal… I think everyone's trying to come up together and bring up other bands along the way, and we've always been really blessed to have bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden take us under their wing and say nice things about us. When you have that, you are really so appreciative, and we hope to do the same for younger, up-and-coming bands, because we're just not ready to give over the throne of rock and metal to a bunch of bands that blow on jugs and play tambourines!"

So Robb Flynn makes a joke about the band's music sounding like other band's music, and Vengeance basically just says bands and the metal scene in general need to stick together and support each other. Hell yeah! Plus I'm pretty sure Avenged Sevenfold are under the impression Flynn was joking, considering they don't exactly hate each other (according to Shadows). I actually feel a little bad for Avenged Sevenfold; they got so much flack for their first artwork for this year's self-titled record they had to change it, and they even recently got accused of stealing Machine Head's logo, which is compete and total bull… but that's just like, your opinion, man. I'd actually really like to do a story where the headline is "AVENGED SEVENFOLD Get Brought Cake; Everyone Is Happy" for once.
