Pretty much everybody agreed that the artwork for the new Avenged Sevenfold album Hail To The King blew goats. Apparently, the band heard your complaints and has decided on an alternate cover for their new album.
Our homeslices at MetalSucks got word that the artwork you see above is not the art for the new album. Instead, the band will be using a modified version of that cover (seen below) as the artwork for the "Hail To The King" single, which we heard a few days ago.
Changing the font and making the overall color scheme a bit darker makes the artwork look 1000% better, but still a bit tacky for my tastes.
As for the final album artwork, the band went in a completely different direction and just went for minimalism:
Overall, a much more acceptable design. Although really, with downloading nowadays, how many people are even going to be seeing the artwork anyway?
Hail to the King comes out comes out August 27. The band will be touring with Deftones and Ghost this fall. Dates here.
