The Grammys were last night, and if you didn't find yourself strapped down in an emergency room with the program on the television (because what other reason would you have for watching it), here is the recap of the lone heavy metal/hard rock award.
In case you forgot, here are the nominees for the award, officially called Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance:
Anthrax – "I'm Alive"
Halestorm – "Love Bites (So Do I)"
Iron Maiden – "Blood Brothers"
Lamb of God – "Ghost Walking"
Marilyn Manson – "No Reflection"
Megadeth – "Whose Life (Is It Anyways?)"
And the winner is…Halestorm, the lone hard rock nominee. Congrats to that foursome, they are really nice group of hungry musicians and I'm sure they were honored. They actually showed up and delivered a humble acceptance speech.
Oh hey, why were there a bunch of empty seats up front? Because this was, of course, before the official broadcast began. This was pre-televised. That's what the Grammys call "respect," or lack there of. Slipknot's Corey Taylor put it succinctly in a blog post last night…
I'm happy for Halestorm, but sad because the Grammys don't respect our genre AT ALL. We get one category and it's not even televised.

That didn't stop some of the nominees from actually showing up and basking in the moment. The award for best dressed while still not giving a fuck goes to Lamb Of God:
Anthrax also walked the red carpet, here's Scott Ian and Frank Bello:
Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante brought his daughter, basically becoming Metal Father of the Year:
Megadeth's Shawn Drover and David Ellefson didn't make it to the red carpet, but according to their Twitter, they showed up to the Grammys in style:
And here's a shot of Halestorm celebrating their Grammy win:
Oh, and here's that Grammy winning Halestorm song, not a bad tune:
In related metal news, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won a Grammy for “Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media” for their work on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Trent was so honored he didn't even bother showing up. At least I don't think he did, there is no photo evidence of him being in attendance.
Did you power through the Grammys? Any thoughts? I guess there's always the Golden Gods Awards.
