Metallica is now streaming an alternate take of "Sad But True" from one of the Rough & Alternate Mixes discs of their coming Black Album reissue. The reissue includes a handful of live albums, interviews, demos & rough mixes, live and behind the scenes DVDs, and a bunch of goodies. Both the regular and standard versions are available for pre-order here before their September 10 release.
Metallica has also announced a brand new compilation called The Metallica Blacklist. That compilation features 53 artists spanning an range of genres, generations, cultures, continents, and more each covering a song off The Black Album. The artists include Ghost, Kamasi Washington, Miley Cyrus and way more!
This of course also includes St. Vincent's cover of "Sad But True", which you can stream below. It's interesting take on the song that's very much St. Vincent, but man… it's really good. Pre-orders for The Metallica Blacklist are available here.
Oh, and then there's the Metallica: The Black Album In Black & White book. The book is a compilation of photographs taken by Ross Halfin during the album sessions at One on One Studios in North Hollywood, CA and on the 300 date tour supporting the album between 1991 and 1993. The book is out October 19 and is available for pre-order here.
