Ghost has taken home the first-ever American Music Award in the Favorite Rock Album category. Ghost's competitors in the category were all major mainstays in the modern rock realm, making the win all that much more impressive… and continuing to solidify the band's status as one of the biggest names in metal. Their competitors were:
- Coldplay – Music Of The Spheres
- Imagine Dragons – Mercury: Act 1
- Machine Gun Kelly – Mainstream Sellout
- Red Hot Chili Peppers – Unlimited Love
Congrats to the band, though I'm sure we'll be seeing them win plenty more awards in the coming years! Ghost has been having a pretty big year in 2022, including the very sudden success of their 2019 single "Mary On A Cross" going viral on TikTok.
Ghost also appears to be looking forward to a big 2023, with a major European tour somewhere on the horizon and perhaps a change in guard within the band's ranks.
