The Nine Songs CATTLE DECAPITATION Should Play Live More Often

Cattle Decapitation has a lot of great material, in case you forgot.

Cattle Decapitation and Metal Injection recently teamed up for an exclusive t-shirt, and it got us thinking – what songs should the band play way more live? So we sat our collective asses down, listened to every Cattle Decapitation record, and figured out what songs we'd pick.

There were a few interesting things to note about listening to everything Cattle Decapitation has ever put out:

  • It's pretty obvious why Human Jerky and Homovore are largely ignored live now – those goregrind-styled songs are worlds apart from how Cattle Decapitation sounds now, and it'd probably be weird to throw some 40-something second track in there with their more composed songs
  • Cattle Decapitation doesn't play much off Humanure. Of every album they've put out, Humanure songs have made it to the stage a total of 31 times (according to Setlist.fm). It's a good album, so it's odd that it gets so ignored
  • Alternatively, every single song (outside one interlude) from Monolith Of Inhumanity and The Anthropocene Extinction has made it to the stage.
  • Cattle Decapitation's discography is so interesting to listen to from the start. The jumps between the first seven albums are insane in terms of ratcheting up the quality, though the most noticeable is between the almost-deathcore-like Karma.Bloody.Karma (that mid-2000s "deathcore-meets-death-metal" thing) and the fucking crushing death metal-leaning The Harvest Floor.

Anyway, check out our picks below and check out our exclusive Cattle Decapitation shirt right here.
