THE ROLLING STONES' Keith Richards Calls BLACK SABBATH & METALLICA "Great Jokes"

Don't worry, he also hates hip hop!

Don't worry, he also hates hip hop!

Walking scarf hanger Keith Richards has been a musician for longer than I have been alive. Yes, The Rolling Stones are always cited as one of the best bands of all time, so clearly these guys are the real deal. But, in a new interview with the NY Daily News, 71-year-old Keith Richards comes off like a bitter old grandpa talking about music today:

“It sounds like a dull thud to me. For most bands, getting the syncopation is beyond them. It’s endless thudding away, with no bounce, no lift, no syncopation.”

Then, without prompt, he turns his attention to knocking Metallica and Black Sabbath, two of the most iconic metal bands of all time:

“Millions are in love with Metallica and Black Sabbath,” Richards says. “I just thought they were great jokes.”

Man, for a 71-year-old, Richards sure is sounding like a tween commenter on Metal Injection. Don't worry, he doesn't take it easy on hip hop either:

“What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there,” he says. “All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.”

Sadly, Richards spent so much time bashing things he didn't like, that he didn't have a moment to actually talk about the music he does like. If he thinks Metallica sound like great jokes do you think he'd be into Portal? I'd bet he'd throw down hard in a Suicide Silence mosh pit, too! Ultimately, to me, Richards comes off like a tired and bitter grandpa who needs his rest. But he has no reason to be bitter because he is a millionaire and has no reason to hate on anybody. Why all the negativity, Keith?
