We all know that Dave Mustaine is one of the four best rhythm guitarists of all time, but what about his fellow axemen in Megadeth over the years? Mustaine has taken to Twitter to rank Megadeth's secondary guitarists leading up to his most favorite, and the answer may or may not surprise you.
Dave leaves out original second guitarist Greg Handevidt from 1983 and Slayer's Kerry King who was in the band in 1984, though Megadeth put out its first album in 1985. So maybe he's ranking from then on? The list also includes guitarist Mike Albert, who was only a live replacement for Chris Poland in 1985, which is odd.
Also, Chris Broderick is shockingly low considering how long he was in the band.
- Kiko Loureiro (2015 – Present Day)
- Marty Friedman (1990 – 1999)
- Glen Drover (2004 – 2008)
- Chris Poland (1984-1987, 2004)
- Al Pitrelli (2000 – 2002)
- Mike Albert (Live Only, 1985)
- Chris Broderick (2008 – 2014)
- Jeff Young (1987 – 1989)
My favorite guitarists in order: Kiko, Marty, Glen, Chris P., Al, Mike Albert, Chris B., and lastly Jeff. New stuff will start soon…? https://t.co/UomZmKzTqU
