Prescription pills were the culprit!

At least now the Cornell family has a sense of closure. After Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell's shocking death by hanging, which was quickly ruled a suicide, Cornell's wife, Vicky rejected the ruling by law enforcement. She blamed the death on taking too much anti-anxiety medication, especially after her final conversation with Chris, where she said he didn't sound like himself, and sounded like he did when he was addicted to Oxycontin.

Yesterday, she released a statement saying there were too many unanswered questions in the investigation, and that the Detroit police department refuse to release information to her. Today, at least some of them are answered.  got the official toxicology report, and multiple prescription drugs where found in Chris' system:

The singer had Naloxone (Narcan), Butalbital (sedative), Lorazepam (Ativan), Pseudoephedrine (decongestant) and barbiturates in his system at the time of death. It appears Chris had taken 4 (1 mg) Lorazepam tablets.

TMZ also noted the four needle wounds in his arms were from "EMTs administering Narcan to counteract an opiate OD." Shortly after the announcement, Vicky released a new statement to TMZ:

"Many of us who know Chris well, noticed that he wasn’t himself during his final hours and that something was very off. We have learned from this report that several substances were found in his system. After so many years of sobriety, this moment of terrible judgement seems to have completely impaired and altered his state of mind."

She added, "Something clearly went terribly wrong and my children and I are heartbroken and are devastated that this moment can never be taken back. We very much appreciate all of the love we have received during this extremely difficult time and are dedicated to helping others in preventing this type of tragedy.”

While the report provided some answers, ultimately Cornell is sadly still gone. He leaves behind three children without a father, a wife who had much love for him and many fans all over the world. You will be missed, Chris.
