So, Metallica are doing pretty well for themselves.

We already know that Metallica's ongoing WorldWired tour is making boat loads of money. But sometimes it's interesting to take a step back and take in the massive reach of the world's biggest metal band.

Pollstar just released a crazy stat. Metallica made $36.6 million over the course of only eight live shows:

Metallica soars to No. 1 on LIVE75 on the strength of eight recent performances from the band’s ongoing “WorldWired” tour that launched in 2016. Shows at the final six stops on the tour’s European leg that ran from May through late August contribute to the tally for these rankings, as does their two-night event with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the opening of San Francisco's Chase Center Sept. 6 and 8. Boxoffice revenue from all eight concerts hit $36.6 million from 371,514 sold tickets at seven venues, producing a per show average of 46,439.

That's an average gross per show of $4,582,990. Most of us won't see that much money in our lifetime, and that's how much Metallica leaves with every night.

Metallica are already among the top earners of the year in all of music touring.

A recent Forbes list of the highest-paid entertainers of 2019 had Metallica come in at #30 on the list, beating out big name pop stars like Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Travis Scott, Bruno Mars, Billy Joel, Eminem, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. Of course, this doesn't exactly mean that Metallica is worth more than these other artists, just that they earned more money this year.

Other celebrities out-earned by Metallica include Tiger Woods, Robert Downey Jr., Kevin Hart, Jackie Chan and basketball star Kevin Durant.

As for the qualifications for Metallica's ranking, Forbes points out that their WorldWired Tour has grossed over $250 million since 2016.

So, Metallica are doing pretty well for themselves.
