CREED's Scott Stapp May Be Forced Into Psychiatric Hold After Skipping Court Appearance

Stapp skipping court appearances is not helping his case.

Stapp skipping court appearances is not helping his case.

The dramatic decline of one of the late 90's biggest rock stars continues. A few weeks ago, Scott Strapp Stapp posted a startling video announcing his money was frozen and he's been living in a Holiday Inn. Then, we learned he is going through a divorce with his wife, and in an effort to raise money, launched an ill-fated crowdfunding campaign, which has since been yanked.

His son spoke out on Twitter saying his dad chose drugs over his family. Yesterday, according to Classic Rock, Creed bassist Brian Marshall confirmed the singer has relapsed:

“It’s obvious that Scott is not okay. He needs medical help and/or an intervention so he does not surrender to this disease before he hurts himself or others.”

Today, some even more troubling news for fans of Stapp. According to the ever-reliable Gossip Extra, there was a civil hearing yesterday at a local Boca Raton court to discuss if Stapp needs to be placed on psychiatric hold for mental evaluation and drug treatment. Guess who didn't show up to the hearing? Scott Stapp!

A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy was sent to the Holiday Inn Express on Glades Road in Boca Raton with a summons for Stapp to appear before Judge Martin Colin. Stapp, however, never showed up.

Stapp’s family believes he is living at the hotel.

Because the summons is a civil matter, authorities are not actively looking for Stapp.

However, he could be held in contempt of court if he ever turns up in the courthouse on Delray Beach’s Atlantic Avenue, and he risks being forced into psych hold without being able to argue against it.

This would be Stapp's second psychiatric hold, the first of which happened in October after his wife filed a motion for divorce. Stapp was last seen at the Boca Raton police headquarters on Thanksgiving filing a complaint against his wife alleging she is stealing all his money.

We'll keep you posted if Stapp ever shows up.
