LOCHNESS – Alien Deep
Deepwater doom trio from Montreal, Lochness's vocalist is swallowed up in a swirling, gurgling vortex while upfront, dirty sludgeriffs abound. The hypno-repetition of this sinks in and levitates to woozy effect, a lake-bound hall of mirrors; both expansive and claustrophobic psychedelia.
ZONAL – System Error ft. Moor Mother
Justin Broadrick (Jesu/Godflesh) and Kevin Martin (The Bug/King Midas Sound) both worked together as Techno Animal, and still aim to exhume and direct ghostly sounds via the power of deep dark dub with this latest collab Zonal. Definitely more on the atmospheric side than TA, Zonal's metallic basis is utilized via noise, samples, and general vibe. 'Wrecked' full length out on Relapse October 25th.
TETRAGRAMMACIDE – Pulsating Sudarshan Gammadion of Aiwasstronic Fishnu
From India via Iron Bonehead, manic robotic blastbeats, lo-fi electronic sickness compiling the Tetragrammacidal Oration promo, Baneful Abortion of the Cosmic Fetus single and four unreleased tracks "from the reeking bowels of Adi-Ganga's toxic wasteland". Super limited LP but looks like copies are still floating around distros. Set your alarm to this daily.
HOWLING SYCAMORE – Mastering Fire
A whipped up sonic stew of heavy Dio-isms (Watchtower's Jason McMaster soars with the best of 'em), epic surges, colorful tapestries of guitars and complex rhythms. Davide Tiso of Ephel Duath fame handles songsmithery, Hate Eternal and Necrophagist alum also factor into this cool record.
JAMESON RAID – The Hypnotist
A 1980 slab of goodness from the Birmingham brutes who cut their teeth as far back as 75 inspired by Mott the Hoople, and later punk rock. They fell in tidy with the NWOBHM canon, opened for baby Def Lep. Supposedly at one point Terry Dark tried to chop off John Ace's head on stage with a meat cleaver (?) Hm.
