KALL – Eld
Three members from the ashes of Swedish greats Lifelover return with their second LP under the name Kall, a potent mix of free-psych, crushing doom, hallucinatory shoegaze and loping post-rock maneuvers. Plenty of heroic solos amidst sad static fuzz walls, sitar, sax, cavernous screams from beyond a border where genres are otherwise rigidly defined. Quite a fascinating combo indeed.
CHEPANG – Pahilo Bhet
Grandiose free sax skronk flounders around for a bit before this blasts off with hypersonic grindcore, dizzying fretflash, sick vocal eruptions then it's over in 1 minute 41 seconds. Nepalese grindcore maniacs continue to turn the universe inside out for the betterment of all. Gimme special on the horizon.
OvO – Voodoo Twerk
The Italy-born duo OvO skirt the frame of metal, noise, and almost Boredoms-like genre-blur weirdness all splattered with the unholy growl of vocalist Stefania Pedretti. This time around "Voodoo Twerk" emasculates Reggaeton with this crazed sonic explosion. Who knows where the hell they go next, but it's gonna be nutzoid.
