DEATHGRAVE, TOMB MOLD Among The Top Tracks of the Week

Deathgrave

Every Thursday, Gimme Radio Program Director, Brian Turner, delivers the top 5 jaw-dropping tracks on Gimme Radio.

Culled from the week’s past shows, these tracks have the Gimme Radio DJs' seal of approval, have the listeners demanding more and the Gimme office buzzing.

DEATHGRAVE – Live Fast Die Slow

Not super new, but with this bunch hitting the road for tour in July seems like a good juncture to dig back into this Tankcrimes imprint blast of downtuned dissonance. Vets from Brainoil, Amber Asylum, Owl and others have been stabbing the Bay Area with their unique grind for a while now, So Real Its Now is their recent full length.

KALEIDOBOLT – I Am the Seer

Fuzzified 70s hard-edged glory in the mode of Armageddon or King Crimson (the stabby riffing in here definitely evokes "20th Century Schizoid Man") but as usual with so many Finnish bands, the DNA directlines are diluted by a million colors or ideas. Bitter is the LP, out on Svart now.

TOMB MOLD – Infinite Resurrection

After a powerful gestation, Tomb Mold have knocked it up a notch having toured with Cannibal Corpse and about to hit the road with Superstition on the way to Psycho Las Vegas. Planetary Clairvoyance, out July 19th, looks to be a major event for 20 Buck Spin and metalheads alike. This is distilled death metal at its prime stenchmark.

RUSSIAN CIRCLES – Arluck

Sampling from the forthcoming August release Blood Year is brutal yet ample in spaciousness, an almost psychedelic drift among flurries of guitars that serves as elevating rather than suffocating. Instrumentally the Chicago trio subscribes to swelling, tension-releasing passages, scaped and sculpted beautifully.

PALLBEARER – Atlantis

I suppose one of the last things I expected to see this week was a Sub Pop 7" of Pallbearer, and it sounds great (especially considering I never thought of Pallbearer as a singles band). There is indeed a hook, a monster riff of epic proportions to solidify their identity as a great exponent of modern doom's evolution. Upcoming dates with Baroness to come, as well as shows where they play Sorry & Extinction in its entirety.
