COFFIN LURKER – Of Suffering

A murky wind of growling guitar ambience, subsonic muffled roars of a vocalist sounding like he's being flagellated in the closet down the hall, the Dutch duo of Maurice De Jong aka Mories (Gnaw Their Tongues, Cloak of Altering, De Magia Veterum, Dodenbezweerder), and Rene Aquarius (Cryptae, Dead Neanderthals, Imperial Cult, Plague Organ) summon up some oppressive organic forces that propel themselves into the upper eschelon of current extreme horror/doom practitioners.

GRAVE MIASMA – Rogyapa

From their 'Abyss of Wrathful Deities' release out on Dark Descent, this London trio have piqued a lot of interest in death metal hordes for their leftfield approach to the genre. Blasted production, reverence for Tibetan Buddhism and fascination for ritual. Gargling raw vocals surfing over strident riffs, subterranean thrashing, this track has some killer elements.

ALESTORM – Chicken On A Raft

If the image of a Pirate-themed band performing in front of thousands of metalheads all singing along with their big hit "Fucked With an Anchor" isn't enough to make you scratch your head, well, here they are back with more sea-faring curiosities in their epic battle to overcome their neverending struggle of being pirates. Forget Satan, there's a chicken on a goddamned raft coming. Perhaps he is the chicken. What's inside KFC these days rots your core more than Behemoth. What a weirdass band.

RUACH RAAH – Misanthropic Wolfgang

Whatever it is in the Portuguese sun that propels this blackened crust troupe is well in effect here, more punked-out brutal flailing incorporating all this band has put into its veneer of hyper-insanity and feelbad greatness.

NOCTULE – Wretched Abyss

Soaring blackgaze solo project of Svalbard's Serena Cherry, Noctule represents a clear lineage of black metal's elevation and evolution. Chiming notes whipping back at the sinister undercurrent, elements of power metal even seeping into this frenzied concoction.
