Gimme Metal Program Director Brian Turner delivers the week's top 5 office buzz-worthy tracks.

BLACK MASS – A Path Beyond

Sublime shades of Cronos-gargle grabs you in this new track from Boston's Black Mass, but their brand of filth-caked riffage and cave trash is a markedly welcome uptake on the legions of 80's revisionists clogging the world. A blasted grim ol' time.

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH – Shards of Glass

Some time ago ex-Type O Negative/Life of Agony member Sal Abruscato gravitated to some melodic swoon-doom terrain full time with A Pale Horse Named Death, and returns with 'Infernum In Terra' full length in September. More sweeping rivers of discordant guitars, a slight ting of In Utero hanging over the vocals in this new track. Check out the forthcoming guest DJ special slated for September 17th on Gimme as well.

TOMBSTONER – Victims of Vile Torture

Title track from these Staten Island titans' new debut LP on Redefining Darkness, a primo bit of post-HC/slam/trash attack sweeping from segment to segment with ferocious intensity and variety. Seriously, these guys are good. Oh, and don't forget to check in with Redefining Darkness' labelhead Thomas Haywood too as he does a label retrospective on Gimme August 5th on our netwaves.

MISERY INDEX – When Glory Beckons

Misery Index's new 'Coffin Up the Nails' sweeps past rarities of the decade into a tidy pile, with this never-released Bolt Thrower cover making its first appearance. They pound and slash their way through it with zeal and power, and a good time to remind our listeners that Karl Willetts of BT himself guest DJs on Gimme Wednesday July 21st at 3pm ET/12pm PT indexing and waxing on two solid hours of his Bolt Thrower/Memoriam faves!

ANDREW WK – Everybody Sins

The cultural chameleon known as Andrew Wilkes-Krier has spent the last 20 years traversing the lines of just about everything: J-Pop, hermetic noise, solo piano, self-help seminars, he even decorated windows at Bergdorf's as a job once. While his music certainly appealed to metalheads through the years albeit with a taste of Sparks (Obituary's Donald Tardy drummed on his major label debut), his Napalm debut 'God Is Partying' hits in September, and this teaser finds him embracing the cemented role in the genre with his usual dedication. With some Dio-isms certainly swarming around in his vocal presentation.
