Gimme Metal Program Director Brian Turner delivers the week's top 5 office buzz-worthy tracks.

ALUSTRIUM – Deliverance For the Damned

Philadelphia's Alustrium roar into their third LP 'A Monument To Silence' after continued heightened activity with another blast of excellent progressive/technical death. Polished but powerful, disciplined blasts and relentless riffs lead the charge accompanied by vocalist Jerry Martin's forthright growl which is locked into the dense, well-presented instrumental surroundings. Check in with the band as they host a special on Gimme Tuesday June 24th at 7pm ET/4pm PT (right after Jeff Becerra's show!)

WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM – Mountain Magic

Returning with 'Primordial Arcana' (August 20th on Relapse) the mighty Wolves retreat to the woods of the Northwest and carve out an awesome opus of progressive black metal that breathes in their own natural surroundings. Not only are we glad the band is back, but they hang with Gimme listeners on their album release date with a DJ takeover of their fave tracks and influences.

DRELNOCH – Yellowed Bones

From the darkened sonic cave known as our Battleflutes and Sideways Skulls show we get wind of this Omaha one man project of Lord Bill, rife with nature-themed, misanthropic black metal. The distortionless, clean lo-fi strum charges repetitively ahead (honestly it sounds like The Feelies at times) pummeled by in-the-red, relentless blast beats and a fearsome subterranean growl. Hails to Black Metal Nebraska!

VOID TRIPPER – Burning Woods

Aggressive Sabbath-tinged doom from this Brazilian quartet minces no time in getting up in your face, and as the video ably demonstrates has a beef with the directional politics of their swollen, suffering nation. Bolsonara swastika'd, Amazon plundering, Brazil's failure to contain Covid all stark visual elements to this brutal video to pair with Void Tripper's dark lumbering sound journey.

GRAVERIPPER – Radiated Remains

Formed in 2019, Death Ensemble have migrated to the name GraveRipper but continue to instill their basic element: classic thrash in tune with the Sodom school done with total fury. Blinding riffs, savage vocal attack, a down and dirty unit cropdusting your brain, worth keeping an ear out for.
