Nic Huber occasionally dissects the heavy riffs of bands — new and old — in The Wednesday Sludge. This week, the focus is on marijuana-themed fuzz deep in the Garden City. And Dracula.

Singaporean sludgers Marijannah have returned for ichor in their new single "Bloodsucker," off the band's upcoming sophomore album.

The supergroup — which features members of Wormrot, The Caulfield Cult and Abolition A.D. — get down with display a strong return to form ahead of the band's appearance at this weekend's Baybeats Festival in Singapore.

Marijannah is more akin to High On Fire and Sleep than the band's main projects, which obviously includes Wormrot's filthy grind and The Caulfield Cult's… pop-punk? Yes, Marijannah drummer Nicholas Wong is the Asian equivalent of Andy Hurley.

Roll up a blunt and get lost in the riff smoke, but watch out for bats. "Bloodsucker" is all about Vlad Tepes himself. The single's gnarly was illustrated by Amos Basilo, and hopefully will end up on some band merch in the near future because it rules.

You can listen (and purchase) Marijannah's latest single below via Bandcamp, Spotify and Apple Music. Follow the band on Facebook here.
