For over a decade now, Gigan has consistently been one of the most innovative and jaw droppingly brilliant technical death metal bands on the goddamn planet. So far they've released a sick introductory EP in 2007, followed by three phenomenal full-length albums that I still spin a ton to this day. Now they're set to launch their fourth album, Undulating Waves of Rainbiotic Iridescence, on September 15th through Willowtip Records. If you're not already hyped and on board with the Gigan train, today's premiere is another chance to redeem oneself from the normal motions of heaping praise on mediocre death metal. Because truly god-tier tech-death bands like Gigan exist, and deserve it more due to how creative and inspired their form of death metal is compared to most groups.

If you're new to the band, the song we're premiering today, "Clockwork With Thunderous Hooves", is an intense introduction to intake. As with all Gigan releases, what the record has to offer in its totality cannot be judged off of the sound and style presented on one song. The band has built their brand on sonic diversity and an explorative mindset, taking the listener on a journey that defies easy categorization and reductive assumptions made about most bands in this style. Yet that's a big part of the appeal since Gigan operate on a whole other level than the majority of death metal bands.

The more adventurous and open minded amongst our readers will be especially pleased with the songs creative and unorthodox guitar work and zany riffing spewing forth like maddening bolts of LSD riddled lightning, intertwined with unearthly vocals guiding the way, while the maniacal and natural sounding drumming ties it all together. Uniting under an alien-like ritualistic aim, the group's collective talents on "Clockwork With Thunderous Hooves" are used to create a vessel designed to pursue the opening of gateways to otherworldly dimensions. The end result is a warped trip weaving in and out of light speed ferocity, massive churning grooves, and trippy psychedelic layers, making "Clockwork With Thunderous Hooves" one you'll find yourself wanting to re-visit often.

So jam our exclusive premiere of "Clockwork With Thunderous Hooves" below, and if you're digging it, Undulating Waves Of Rainbiotic Iridescence can be pre-ordered through the Willowtip Records website and also through the Gigan Bandcamp page. Be sure to follow the band over on the Gigan Facebook page as well.
