Listen to METALLICA Perform "Master of Puppets" Live For The First Time in 1985

"Time for some new fucking shit…"

Screen-Shot-2021-03-04-at-1.06

Metallica's 1986 classic Master of Puppets just turned 35 years old, though we're looking at a show that took place three months prior to the album's release. Metallica played the Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on December 31, 1985 where they premiered "Master of Puppets" live for the first time ever. The recording of the performance isn't the best, but you can absolutely feel the energy in the room right from the get go. Seriously, please try not to mosh your own house into dust while listening to this.

Even crazier about this premiere is that Anthrax was replaced by Megadeth at the very last moment for this show. Meaning ex-Metallica guitarist Dave Mustaine was in the room to witness history being made by his former band.
