Meet Bones. He's a caucasian 19 years old male, and he's a rapper from Los Angeles. He likes to combine his rap flow with horror film aesthetic. Not exactly breaking barriers, except there was one peculiar thing about his video… he's rocking a shirt from fascist black metal band Burzum.
It's easy to just dismiss his display of affection for Burzum as ironic, but I think there is more to this. For one, he's headbanging in the video. Also, the low-fi nature of the video and the fact that most of it is in an obscure forest leads me to believe that this dude has a genuine love for black metal. Take out the song and the color from the video and this could easily be mistaken for a 90s black metal video.
Also, am I terrible for sort of liking this track? I don't think so. LA Weekly recently did a write-up on Bones whose real name is…wait for it…Elmo! Oh, white people.
