The Smashing Pumpkins are having one hell of a year. The band recruited shred overlord Kiki Wong after having parted ways with longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder in 2023, and is now streaming their new record Aghori Mhori Mei. If you weren't into the absolutely gargantuan triple album rock opera that was ATUM, surely this will put a smile on your face – it's stripped down, it's heavier, and it's very, very guitar-driven.
"In the writing of this new album I became intrigued with the well-worn axiom, 'you can't go home again'," said The Smashing Pumpkins mastermind and frontman Billy Corgan. "Which I have found personally to be true in form but thought well, what if we tried anyway? Not so much in looking backwards with sentimentality but rather as a means to move forward; to see if in the balance of success and failure that our ways of making music circa 1990-1996 would still inspire something revelatory."

The Smashing Pumpkins is currently frontman and guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist and bassist James Iha, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. In addition, The Smashing Pumpkins also features live members bassist Jack Bates, keyboardist and guitarist Katie Cole, and guitarist Kiki Wong.
