Every month, Decibel scribe Shane Mehling reviews the four videos that appear in the mag under “Decibel’s Clips of the Month at Metal Injection.” This month, watch picks from My Dying Bride, Corrosion of Conformity, Destruction and a classic clip from Faith No More.
My Dying Bride: “The Poorest Waltz”

Much like a superpower, whatever the frontman sings appears in this video. When he talks about dancing with blind girls, a bunch of ladies in blindfolds show up and start dancing. He mentions gowns and, boom, they’re wearing gowns. He mentions an “old Gramaphone,” and literally they just show an old Gramaphone. While I appreciate the director’s dedication to a literal interpretation of the song, I kind of wish the singer had put in some stuff about beatboxing kittens or a Bikini Assault Team or something.
Corrosion of Conformity: “Feed On”

This is a normal video in the recording studio until the producer’s acid kicks in and he starts having visions of the Angel Dinosaur Skeleton God speaking to him from the Technicolor eye of the sun. But as anyone who’s done acid will immediately suspect, this suspiciously looks like an imitation of our guiding, universal lifeforce—blessed is his name—and I think they just used a green screen instead of actually filming the sun’s gleaming, kaleidoscopic core. I guess Scion didn’t want to spend the money, but I feel pretty ripped off.
Destruction: “Carnivore”

Either Destruction have never seen From Dusk Till Dawn, Bordello of Blood and Hostel, or they’ve seen them a hundred times and know what happens when you mix a bunch of hot strippers, dipshit businessmen, and a demented fat guy with a butcher’s apron and rattail haircut. I expected some sort of twist at the end, but Destruction correctly predicted that all you need is a length of chain being rubbed on some cleavage and the video will be considered a success.
CLASSIC CLIP – Faith No More: “Easy”

Listen, men, before you get all hot and bothered, I’m pretty sure most of the beautiful women in this video may, in fact, be dudes. Probably. I can’t say all of them, but if you’re not into that kind of thing, you may be playing sexual Russian roulette by falling in love with any of these beauties. Especially the one with the sunglasses and long, curly hair. I think that lovely lady may actually be famous guitarist Jim Martin.
