Are you ever sitting on the crapper, scrolling through Instagram mindlessly, and then do a double-take and scroll back? That's exactly what happened to me this morning.
The photo was from Amaranthe singer Elize Ryd, who snapped a pic with Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine sporting a new look.
This look instantly reminded me of '92 Hetfield, when he had his famous friendly mutton chops look, a look so iconic that they make a Funko! Pop figure out of it. If you need a reminder, look no further than Metallica's "Sad But True" music video.
Of course, Hetfield didn't invent the look of friendly mutton chops. Plenty of metal icons wore it, like Lemmy:
Either way, Dave pulls off the look. The friendly mutton chops are making a comeback!
Update: Shortly after writing this post, a commenter pointed out that he had responded to a tweet from a fan saying "they dig the Lemmy look. Finally someone keeping it old school" to which Dave responded:
