Last month, we launched the Obituary "Violence" vocal cover contest and we got a lot of great entries. We shipped them all off to the band and they have gotten back to us with the winner. Here's what the band had to say:
We knew this was a cool idea to allow a vocal contest especially since John doesn't share his lyrics but we could not have been more surprised and entertained by everyone's participation and vocal covers. Thank you EVERYONE! That was Awesome!
As for the winners we want to thank you for putting forth some killer takes and great imagination with your videos.
Before we get to the winner, here are the runners up. Runners up receive Inked In Blood on deluxe CD an autographed poster and two tickets to see the band live.
3rd Place: CJ Jenkins
The band had this to say about his entry: C.J.Jenkins we liked because of his performance and video idea with the darkness and weirdness. Good Job Mr. Jenkins
2nd Place: Dennis
The band had this to say: Dennis sounded the closest to a John Tardy voice that we heard and therefore deserves some props. Well done dude!
1st Place: Portto
The band had this to say: Portto showed us that he didn't need a studio to pull of a impressive performance and that his Mom's living-room made for a great video shoot…but it all boiled down to the fact that he was having a blast which reminds us of how we tend to have a "good-time" during our performances so Hats Off to Portto and ALL of you that went for it. Super entertaining and really fun to watch.
The grand prize winner, who will receive the new album, Inked In Blood on vinyl and deluxe CD, an Obituary T-Shirt, autographed poster, two tickets to see the band live on tour is Porto.
