GEOFF TATE On A QUEENSRŸCHE Reunion: "I Think It's Pretty Unlikely. In Fact, There's Not Really A Band Anymore."

Still, he's willing to talk about it.

Geoff-Tate

Queensrÿche's split with original vocalist Geoff Tate was a messy one. Long story short, Queensrÿche fired Tate's wife Susan as their manager at a band meeting in April 2012 without Tate present. Tensions quickly rose over the next few months leading to Queensrÿche firing Tate in June 2012. Tate released a "Queensrÿche" album in 2013 called Frequency Unknown before moving on with his new projects, Operation: Mindcrime and Sweet Oblivion.

So what're the chances Tate and Queensrÿche could make up and get back together? According to Tate in an interview with This Day In Metal, probably zero. Tate said nobody's really felt inspired to make up with one another, later noting that Queensrÿche only has two original members left – guitarist Michael Wilton and bassist Eddie Jackson.

"I don't think it's likely, really, at this point. I mean, there's been several offers on the table, getting the band back together and nothing has inspired anybody to get in the same room or even pick up the phone and talk. So, I think it's pretty unlikely. In fact, there's not really a band anymore. With [drummer Scott] Rockenfield gone, it's just Eddie and Michael playing, using the name Queensrÿche, of course, which is very valuable. And it's not really a 'band band' as we know it. So, yeah, I don't really think it's likely."

Still, Tate said he's willing to talk about it with his former bandmates: "Well, I would say that I'm very willing to talk about it. That's the first step. You've gotta actually pick up the phone and answer the phone call."
