Is GHOST Releasing New Music Before Their Next Tour?

It's only a few weeks away!

Ghost will kick off their European tour on May 21 at the Zenith venue in Rouen, France, and it sounds like we might have new music from the group by then too.

According to Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge in an interview with French radio station OUI FM, the band might undergo some changes and have some new music coming by the time touring kicks off. The revelation came after Forge was asked if Ghost would ever do a "By Request" style-tour like Metallica has done in the past.

"Possibly. The thing is that we always try to change things around, and now just because there has been… there are going to be a few changes. There might be, between now and then, there might be new music. Just saying. So it's going to be a little bit different. It's going to be a a different setup.

"If we ever do a by request [tour]… in a way I wouldn't be against doing a poll of what people want to hear. But on the other hand it's like, songs that we aren't playing regularly, there might be a reason for them not being played. It's usually from a practical point of view that they're… when I'm saying 'hard to play,' that is not a dare to online YouTube guitar players [for them to say], 'they're not hard at all!'

"That's not the point. Sometimes a song can be hard to play well so it sounds good. So it feels good. So it fits well in the set."

The "changes" bit isn't as surprising. In one of the the band's recent chapters of their story, Mr. Salterian turns to Papa Emeritus IV and says "The shows are scheduled, I KNOW when your time is up." So maybe this is finally the end of Papa Emeritus IV? I guess we'll find out. Forge also noted that the band will debut a "change" before tour, but hasn't mentioned anything about new music.

Ghost will hit the road with Amon Amarth in North America this August. Get those dates below, and check out the band's full schedule here on their website.
