Queensrÿche guitarist Michael Wilton recently hinted at the band's next chapter in an interview with David Glessner of the San Antonio Express-News. Reflecting on the success of their 2022 album Digital Noise Alliance, Wilton shared that while the band has been actively touring, they're eager to start working on new material: "Yeah, we're gonna have to step up our game after the success of Digital Noise Alliance. We've been doing tons of touring, so we have to figure out when we're going to do the next album."
"We've been throwing around demo ideas and writing on the road and whenever we have breaks at home. We're hoping to possibly get into the studio next year sometime," Wilton added.
Wilton also acknowledged the challenges of creating new music in today's digital age, noting that "people don't buy CDs and records anymore, so you make your living on the road."
Queensrÿche's current Origins Tour celebrates the band's legacy, featuring full performances of their 1983 self-titled EP and their 1984 album The Warning, giving fans a nostalgic journey through some of their earliest material.
Digital Noise Alliance, which was released in October 2022 via Century Media, was produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has collaborated with the band on several previous albums, including Condition Hüman (2015) and The Verdict (2019). Guitarist Mike Stone, who rejoined Queensrÿche in 2021, played a significant role on this latest album, contributing guitar solos and continuing as the band's second guitarist following the departure of longtime member Parker Lundgren in 2021.
